Summary of Recent Board Actions

July 2024

• The June minutes, financial, endowment reports and the consent calendar were approved.​
• The Board approved Trustee Chair, Gerald Majors’ recommendation to repair the balcony pews for $1090.00 and install ADA approved handicap access to The Center for $4500.00 from the Endowment Fund. Approximately $2400 received from the Shepherd’s Center will be applied to the The Center project. Linda Pickler agreed to pay for the repairs to the Lakeside sign on the southwest corner of Olive and 16th Street.
• The Board approved the creation of a committee to organize a “Miracle Sunday” to raise $150,000 for a new 14-passenger church bus.
• Lakeside’s Charge Conference will be held on November 19, 2024.
• The Board approved Pastor Judy exploring the use of the 15th street offices as a Community Café and an adult literacy resource center as part of the “One More Question” program.
• The Board approved hiring an associate pastor for 10 hours per week in exchange for the use of the parsonage. The associate will be responsible for utilities and upkeep of the yard

August 2024

• The minutes, financial and endowment reports and the consent calendar were approved.
  
• A Liberty bill of $1703 was approved to be paid under dispute with a letter from Attorney Terry Wynne. The leaks have been found and repaired, but Gerald and Fred will negotiate a bill adjustment with Liberty Utilities.
  
• Trustee projects continue. “Assist bars” were approved to be installed in two bathrooms.
  
• Sandy Bobo reported that Miracle Sunday will be October 27th to raise $150,000 for a new bus. An informational potluck will be held on September 29th .
  
• The Pastor reported that further exploration of a Community Café ministry depends on how many people attend “One More Question” training September 22nd at St. James UMC.
  
• A gift from the Jones Family will provide dinners and help launch a young adult group.
  
• Rev. Sam Meadors will begin as a part-time Associate Pastor on October 1, 2024. Her compensation will be use of the parsonage; however, she will be responsible for utilities.
  
• The search for a Mi Casa director continues. Vanessa Hernandez is assisting remotely
