The Bible is filled with passages of the inherent value and worth of all persons. Especially clear is our responsibility to not only protect the vulnerable from harm and mistreatment but to nurture and empower our children to participate and contribute to community life.
Lakeside United Methodist Church is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children, youth, vulnerable adults, staff, and volunteers who participate and serve in ministries and activities sponsored by the church. Safe Gatherings is an online abuse prevention and boundary awareness program strongly recommended by the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church to screen and train staff and volunteers who work with protected persons to help prevent abuse in group settings. Screening includes background checks, professional and clergy references and comprehensive training. Staff and volunteers are trained to use best practices to prevent abuse, recognize the signs of abuse, and know how to handle reporting. This approval process is repeated every three years to maintain their certified status. If you would like to volunteer in ministries that work with our protected persons please contact Linda LaClair, Safe Gatherings Coordinator, at 870-329-7753.
